eMachines Mini-e Home Entertainment Center

eMachines has rolled out one of the zanier small form factor desktops to date, known as the Mini-e Home Entertainment Center. Don’t be surprised by its size – it might be as small and thick as a small book, but it packs quite a punch where home theater PCs are concerned. Featuring a unique glossy black diamond shaped chassis that seemingly “floats” in a matte silver pedestal, it is capable of emitting a soft ambient green glow along the lower edge for that added touch of class whenever it is powered and ready to go. The eMachines Mini-e measures 7.1″ in diameter, tipping the scales at a mere 9 pounds which would make it rather dangerous for you to have a cat or lumbering dog around the home since either one could easily knock over the Mini-e while it is running.

Toshiba Qomsio X505-Q870 TruBrite Review

Toshiba Qosmio X505-Q870 in clearly designed as a high performance mobile gaming platform.Although it is not the highest level since Toshiba X505, it offers some good balance between price and performance that many will be involved too. Most of the performance may be related to Intel Core i7 Quad Core mobile processor, which surpasses the previous Core 2 processors, even if they are equipped with memory DDR3.

18.4-inch display panel Qosmio X505-Q870 adds a significant amount of bulk to the computer. This, coupled with high productivity and part of their required cooling means that is one heavy laptop market, falling slightly less than 10 pounds. Add a network adapter, and it is not one of the most portable. The big problem, although this 18.4-inch display used on this model achieves only 1680×945 resolution, rather than the more typical 1920×1080. This is probably one of the main reasons for a more affordable $ 1500 price.

Electronics Today International

ETI was launched by Modern Magazines, a publisher of specialist magazines based in Rushcutters' Bay, Sydney. The magazine was started at the suggestion of Kim Ryrie, the electronics-enthusiast son of Colin Ryrie, who owned the publishing company. They hired Collyn Rivers to be editor, and, uniquely, set up a development laboratory to produce designs for publication. Whereas other magazines in this market relied on designs submitted by freelance amateur designers, ETI's editor could commission cutting-edge designs from the in-house laboratory, which was run to professional standards by Barry Wilkinson. It was the quality of these designs which set ETI apart for its competition, and ensured its success, initially in Australia and then in overseas markets.

The first overseas edition was published by a subsidiary of Modern Magazines and edited and published by Halvor Moorshead for the UK market. Halvor syndicated the magazine in Germany and the Netherlands, and in 1978 entered the North American market with a Canadian Edition. In the Netherlands a translated version was published as "electronica top internationaal" by "Radio Rotor", a mail order company for electronic hobby equipment located in Den Dolder and Amsterdam.

The ETI network offered travel opportunities for its young journalists. Steve Braidwood, who worked on the UK edition as a student in 1973 and joined as assistant editor in 1974, went to Sydney in 1976-77 as acting editor and then to Canada in 1977-1979 as editor and publisher. He was succeeded as editor in Canada by Graham Wideman (see[1]).

The Canadian operation was bought by Halvor Moorshead in 1979, when the Australian company was acquired by Kerry Packer's Australian Consolidated Press. The UK company was sold to Argus Specialist Press (a subsidiary of BET).
